Discover the Southern Black Hills 

Black Hills Electric is proud to participate in the “This is Co-op Country” Road Trip Map project, highlighting the attractions, recreation opportunities and destinations that make the southern Black Hills a special place to live, work and visit. 

Founded in 1940, Black Hills Electric serves communities throughout the southern Black Hills. The cooperative broke ground on a new facility in spring 2026, with plans to begin operations by mid-summer 2027.  

The destinations selected showcase the adventure, natural wonders and family-friendly attractions that have made the Black Hills one of South Dakota’s premier travel destinations.
